Regional Victoria will enter lockdown at 1:00pm on Saturday, 21 August 2021, Premier Daniel Andrews has announced. All of regional Victoria will move to the same lockdown conditions as exist in Melbourne right now with one important exception — the curfew will not operate in regional Victoria.

The U.S. is extending COVID-19 restrictions on non-essential travel at its borders for yet another month, meaning Canadians will have to wait a bit longer to drive south for leisure.

The Greater Sydney lockdown has been extended until the end of September. It will not apply to Shellharbour and the Central Coast, which will be classified as regional areas.

The NSW Government has announced a curfew will be put in place in the parts of Sydney most affected by COVID-19. The curfew comes into force as 12:01am on Monday, 23 August 2021, and will apply between 9:00pm and 5:00am. The new rules apply to the Local Government Areas of Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Strathfield, and some suburbs of Penrith. Mask wearing will apply across the state from August 30. Unless you are exercising, everyone must wear a mask outdoors across the state.

Ryanair has unveiled plans to add 11 new routes to its schedule this winter - perfect for those who missed out on a summer getaway. The schedule now includes over 2,000 weekly flights to over 400 destinations. Departures include new trips from Birmingham to Bucharest, Vilnius, Milan Bergamo and Turin, as well as flights from Bournemouth to Budapest and Wrocław.

Emirates is responding to a spike in travel demand across its network through the scaling up of its operations. The decision follows a recent announcements that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would be added to the amber list in the UK. At the same time, the UAE has eased entry protocols for 12 countries, including South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria and Afghanistan.

NT Chief Minister, Michael Gunner, has advised the Darwin lockdown will lift as scheduled at midday on Thursday, 19 August 2021. The Katherine region, however, will remain in lockdown and is now expected to finish at midday local time on Friday, 20 August 2021.

Emirates and Airlink have announced the expansion of their existing partnership into a unilateral codeshare agreement. The deal is designed to give travellers to and from South Africa convenient access to more than 40 domestic and regional destinations across 12 African countries. The extended codeshare provides connectivity to Emirates’ customers not offered by any other carrier in Africa, and augments the long-standing partnership that Emirates has with South African Airways.

New Zealand was listed as a "low risk" site at 12:00pm on Wednesday, 19 August 2021. Anyone who has entered WA from New Zealand is subject to the following strict conditions. They must present for a COVID-19 test on arrival (within 48 hours) and on day 12, self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premises, complete a G2G Pass declaration prior to arrival, stipulating they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions they have been in during the previous 14 days, and arrivals are to be met at the border checkpoint for a health screening and to have their G2G Pass declaration checked before proceeding to their self-quarantine premises.

Oman Air is increasing weekly flight frequencies from Muscat to Salalah in response to demand for travel during the Khareef season. An average of 41 weekly flights will be offered in each direction during August, up from 18 last month. Both Muscat-to-Salalah and Salalah-to-Muscat reached a total of 41 weekly flights and 7,820 weekly seats each way, for a grand total of 82 weekly flights and 15,640 weekly seats.

Premier Peter Gutwein has announced those who have a exemption to travel to the state from a level 1 high risk area will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to arriving. The document will need to be uploaded to Tasmania's G2G site.

The 13 QLD LGAs which have been deemed high risk by the Tasmanian government, will be downgraded to low risk at midnight. This means all of QLD will be considered low risk to Tasmania, with the exception of specific premises which have been outlined as exposure sites.

NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner has announced Greater Darwin and the Katherine region will go into a snap lockdown for 72 hours at midday local time on Monday, 16 August 2021, after a case of COVID-19 was detected in the community. The lockdown will apply to the Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine local government areas, as well as the Darwin rural area.

Tasmania will declare Greater Darwin and Katherine as high risk level 2 from 4.00pm on Monday, 16 August 2021. This means anyone who has spent time in the Greater Darwin and Katherine regions will not be permitted to enter Tasmania unless approved as an Essential Traveller and if approved, they will need to quarantine at a suitable premises for 14 days.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr has extended the ACT lockdown by two weeks following 19 new local cases today. The lockdown is now scheduled to end on Thursday, 02 September 2021.

QLD has declared the Greater Darwin and the Katherine region as a hotspot from 1:00am on Wednesday, 18 August 2021.

QLD Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that essential workers with an exemption to cross into QLD from NSW will require at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. This requirement will come into effect from Friday, 20 August 2021, and be in place until further notice.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced a strengthening of lockdown rules along with a two-week extension - lockdown is now due to end on 2nd September 2021. The extension is the result in growing numbers of unlinked cases being detected within the community. New restrictions coming into effect as of 11.59pm on Monday, 16 August 2021 include a curfew from 9.00pm to 5.00am every day, playgrounds closed, and restriction on construction. Essential workers and children authorised to attend school will require permits to do so from 11.59pm on Tuesday, 17 August 2021.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced a raft of new restrictions for Great Sydney. From Monday, 16 August 2021, additional fines of $5,000 will apply for on the spot quarantine breaches, lying on a permit, or lying to a contact tracer. There will be $3,000 fines for people breaking the two-person exercise rule or travelling into regional NSW. Across all of greater Sydney, the 10km radius rule will now drop down to 5km. Authorities have also removed “recreation” from the public health rules, meaning police will be cracking down on people outside their homes who are not exercising.

The whole of New South Wales will go into lockdown from 5pm on Saturday 14, August 2021. This new order will replace any existing orders in regional NSW. Everyone must stay at home unless they have a reasonable excuse to leave. They also cannot have visitors in their home from outside their household, including family and friends. People still can have one visitor at one time to fulfil carers' responsibilities or provide care or assistance, or for compassionate reasons, including where two people are in a relationship but do not live together. Anyone who leaves their home must carry a mask with them at all times. Every employer across NSW must require their employees to work from home unless it is not reasonably practicable. It is a reasonable excuse to leave your home for work – but only if it is not practicable to work from home.
