ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA: Quarantined arrivals required to pay accommodation costs

Health screening is currently in place at Antigua's VC Bird International Airport for international arrivals; in addition to the US$100 fee for COVID-19 testing previously reported, passengers who are required to enter government-provided quarantine will also be liable to pay approximately US$40 per night in costs. Meanwhile, further international flights are set to resume - British Airways has services scheduled from 1 August. Virgin Atlantic, though, are not due to resume flights until October.

UNITED KINGDOM: Confirmed 'travel corridor' arrangements yet to be released

In an update to a previous alert, while UK government ministers confirmed on 26 June that travel arrangements with selected countries would be confirmed shortly, the list of eligible 'travel corridor' participants and the date from which the system will begin has not yet been finalised. Arrivals from low-risk countries are set to be exempt from the UK's mandatory 14-day self-quarantine; reportedly, an expert panel will arrange nations in three categories within a traffic light-style system.

EUROPEAN UNION: Finalised EU travel 'safe list' yet to be confirmed for arrivals from July 2020

In an update to a previous alert, EU officials are still due to finalise a confirmed list of countries whose residents will be permitted to travel to the European bloc from July, despite ambassadors from the 27 countries convening in the last few days. A re-drawn proposal of 10-20 countries was presented, but many said they would need to consult with their governments. The provisional list, however, is understood to not include the U.S., Brazil or Russia.

TONGA: Partial flight suspension to remain until 12 September 2020

The country’s government has announced that only approved flights will be permitted to land until 12 September, and as a result 105 non-approved international services have been diverted between now and that date. Among the approved carriers are Air New Zealand, who will operate one flight per week for outbound passengers in July.

AZERBAIJAN: Updated international arrival restrictions

In an update to restrictions on international arrivals to the country, all passengers travelling in or out of Azerbaijan will require certification of a negative COVID-19 with a result issued less than 48 hours prior to the flight. BELIZE: International tourism set to resume from 15 August 2020

The country's prime minister has announced that Philip Goldson International Airport will reopen 15 August, effectively jump-starting international tourism to Belize once again. There are though a number of requirements in place for visitors, including daily check-ins on a government app in order to report their movement within the country; passengers must also take a PCR COVID-19 test either shortly before departure from their country of origin, or within 72 hours of their arrival, at their own cost.

CHINA: Lockdown restrictions placed on 400,000 residents in Hebei province

Following a small surge in COVID-19 cases, China has imposed strict lockdown conditions on around 400,000 residents of Anxin county, a jurisdiction of Baoding City around 90 miles south of Beijing in Hebei province. Officials announced yesterday that Anxin would be fully closed and controlled, in a move that is reminiscent of those imposed in Wuhan at the height of the pandemic.

UNITED KINGDOM: Announcement of 'travel corridors' to some countries expected by 29 June 2020

The country's government is expected to make an announcement by 29 June on the introduction of a series of 'travel corridors', which will allow passengers from qualifying countries to arrive into the UK without the need to self-quarantine. The first corridors are speculated to be due to come into force from 4 July, however this is by no means confirmed; countries that could be eligible include France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Turkey and Finland.

UNITED STATES: U.S. visitors to Hawaii to be exempted from quarantine from 1 August 2020

From 1 August, domestic U.S arrivals to Hawaii will not be subject to state quarantine if providing evidence of testing negative for COVID-19. Visitors seeking the exemption must produce results of an FDA-approved test taken within 72 hours before arriving in Hawaii. The 14-day mandatory self-quarantine for out-of-state visitors, which was recently extended to 31 July, will remain in effect for those who have not been tested.

TUNISIA: Update to entry requirements from 27 June 2020

The country's authorities have advised that from 27 June entry requirements will vary depending on the prevalence of COVID-19 in travelers’ country of residence. Individuals from 'red' countries, including the UK, will not be permitted to enter unless they hold Tunisian citizenship or residence; visitors from 'orange' countries are permitted to enter under certain conditions, and those from 'green' countries can enter without restrictions. UNITED STATES: New York imposes quarantine on eight U.S. states

The U.S. states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have asked people travelling from other states where COVID-19 cases are rising to go into self-isolation for 14 days. Currently those states are Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Utah; anyone found to be violating the self-isolation requirement could be fined a minimum of US$1000.

MALDIVES: Further details on tourism re-opening from 15 July 2020

Following the previous alert on the upcoming re-opening of the Maldives to tourism, further clarity on the initial lifting of restrictions has been published. From 15 July visitors will be provided a free 30-day visa-on-arrival, and will not be subject to any form of quarantine - only those with symptoms will be subject to a PCR test for COVID-19. A confirmed booking with an approved resort on an uninhabited island is required until 1 August, at which time other accommodations on inhabited islands will also be permitted to re-open.
