HAWAIIAN AIRLINES: Airline to offer airport COVID-19 testing in some U.S. gateway airports

The airline has announced that it will begin to offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing in some U.S. gateway airports; initially it is partnering with a supplier to do so in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with more locations to come. Hawaiian Airlines have said the COVID-19 PCR tests will be shallow nasal-swab tests, a 'gold standard' screening that meets state guidelines; the tests will be $90 (USD) for results within 36 hours and $150 (USD) for day-of-travel express service.

SWITZERLAND: Country includes UK on list of those from which quarantine is mandatory

The country’s government has added several countries including the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal to its list of countries from which travellers must go into a 10-day quarantine on arrival; the measures take effect from today, 28 September. Quarantine measures which are in force in Switzerland also apply to Liechtenstein.

UKRAINE: Country to re-open borders to foreign nationals from 28 September 2020

The country's government has said that effective today, 28 September, it will re-open its borders for the purposes of tourism, but will continue to operate on a 'red' and 'green' classification system to determine entry requirements based on passengers' country of origin. Passengers coming from ‘green’ zone countries can enter Ukraine restriction free, while ‘red’ zone passengers will have to quarantine for 14 days, with the option of COVID-19 PCR testing to reduce this period.

PERU: Country set to resume international flights from 5 October 2020

SOUTH AFRICA: Country to re-open borders to international travel from 1 October 2020

The country plans to begin a gradual re-opening of its borders to international travel from 1 October; however, the president has warned that entry may be limited to countries deemed to have low COVID-19 infection rates, and a list is yet to be released. UNITED AIRLINES: Airline to offer rapid airport COVID-19 testing to some passengers

The airline has announced that it will start to offer rapid airport COVID-19 testing for passengers travelling from San Francisco to Hawaii from 15 October; this is the first such pilot program announced by a U.S. airline. ALASKA AIRLINES: U.S. airline announces five new routes from 17 December 2020

The airline has announced five new routes due to launch from 17 December, which aim to primarily serve leisure travellers. Alaska Airlines will fly seasonally until 12 April 2021 between: Los Angeles and Cancun; Palm Springs, California and Boise, Idaho; Palm Springs, California and Reno, Nevada. The airline will also fly daily, year-round between Los Angeles and Reno and twice-daily, year-round between Palm Springs and San Jose, California.
