Spanish airport operator Aena said today that it would re-open Terminal 1 of Madrid’s Barajas Airport on 1 July after three months of closure, while some terminals at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport will re-open through July and August. Barajas’s Terminal 4 was already open, while Barcelona had kept parts of its Terminal 1 open throughout Spain’s COVID-19 border closures.

The country has today re-opened borders to international arrivals; its national carrier, Ukraine International Airlines, is expected to resume international services within the next week, and currently a 14 day arrival quarantine is still in place until at least 22 June.

The airline has today announced an updated Summer schedule from 5 July to 4 August; flights to 45 destinations are planned including 39 in Canada, five in the U.S. and one in Mexico.

Airlink has announced that they will no longer be flying between Johannesburg and Durban from 15 June onwards, due to the route proving to not be financially viable. They will continue flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town and will also focus efforts on other routes once permissions allow; this includes flights to Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Kimberley, Upington, Umtata, Pietermaritzburg, Richard’s Bay, George, Port Elizabeth and East London.

The airline took to the skies today for the first time since 30 March, flying to a small number of mainly domestic UK destinations. By August, easyJet plans to resume around 75% of routes, albeit at a much lower frequency than the same time last year.

As the country re-opens for international visitors today, a number of measures have been put in place for all arrivals. Prior to check-in for a flight to Jamaica, an authorisation must be obtained from the Visit Jamaica website. Passengers will be tested and should be prepared to enter government quarantine if positive for COVID-19; finally, visitors for the purposes of tourism from some destinations, including the UK, may be required to spend their time only in the country's 'COVID Resilient Zone' on its north coast. Locally, measures including curfews are in place.

The UAE government announced today that citizens and residents are to be allowed to travel to specific destinations as of 23 June. A list of the destinations, the groups authorized to travel and the procedures that must be adhered to will be announced shortly, according to state news agency WAM.

The country's government announced today that Uzbekistan will re-open its borders to some international flights from 15 June, with quarantine measures imposed depending on the passenger's country of origin.

The country's civil aviation minister said today that Egypt will re-open all of its airports on 1 July. The government had already previously announced that international flights would resume to some sea-side resorts on the same date.

Four of the group's hotels have received the prestigious Bureau Veritas Safeguard label - the Jumeirah Al Naseem, Jumeirah Al Qasr, Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf and Jumeirah Creekside. The label is awarded to businesses who impose extensive health and safety measures which support the mitigation of the spread of COVID-19.

The country will re-open its borders to visitors from Europe’s open-border Schengen area from 21 June, 10 days earlier than previously planned. Visitors from countries outside of the Schengen area will be able to visit Spain from 1 July, subject to their own restrictions.

From 15 June, all passengers arriving in Iceland can chose to be tested for COVID-19 (free of charge until 30 June, and ISK 15,000 per test thereafter) or self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. A pre-registration form must also be completed before departure.

The country has today relaxed its domestic travel recommendations, allowing anyone without COVID-19 symptoms to travel freely within the country for whatever reason, as long as health and safety precautions are taken. Previously, the government has advised against all non-essential journeys by car which take longer than two hours.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has issued the City Lodge Hotel Group its “Safe Travels” stamp of approval, in recognition of the international standards of health and hygiene upheld at its hotels. As the group opens up more properties in South Africa to travellers, it is keen to reassure guests that every precaution has been taken to ensure their safety.

The country announced today that it will take airline passengers’ temperatures before they fly and anyone with a fever will not be allowed to travel. Those arriving in Canada will be screened by the end of June; those leaving the country, as well as domestic travelers, will be screened at the country’s four biggest airports by the end of July.

From today the Turkish government has started to re-open its international land, sea and air borders. All passengers, of all nationalities, who meet immigration rules are permitted entry and scheduled passenger flights will now resume on an individual country basis.

The country’s government announced today it will lift restrictions at its borders for EU travellers plus arrivals from Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, and Switzerland from 15 June. The Montréal-based airline has announced that flights are set to resume from 23 July; a new schedule will offer services to more than 20 destinations including those in Europe, the United States and domestically in Canada.

The country is set to allow all travel to and from Finland, Iceland and the Swedish island of Gotland from 15 June. Restrictions on arrivals from Sweden, however, will remain in place.

The country will re-open its borders for citizens of Montenegro and neighbouring Italy on 15 June, the government said in a statement today. Since May it has already re-opened its borders to visitors from 17 countries including neighbouring Croatia, Hungary and Austria.
